How do I get my windshield replaced?

The process for getting a windshield replaced is actually very simple. Simply give Intermountain Auto Glass a call at either (208) 376-4455 for Boise Metro locations, (208) 725-5885 for Idaho Mountain locations, (307) 733-3282 for Wyoming locations, or (541) 473-1001 for Eastern Oregon locations. We will ask you the year, make, and model of your car as well as any specific options that are related to your particular piece that is in need of replacement. We will then schedule an appointment that is convenient for your schedule. Or request a quote and we will promptly get back to you.

It usually takes about 1 hour to install most windshields. The cure time for the adhesives used requires an additional hour cure time for safe drive away. Windshields that require calibration due to specific safety features in your vehicle may take additional time. What is calibration?

How does my insurance work?

You have the right to choose the glass shop that you prefer. Many times when initially setting up your glass claims you will be talking to a Third Party Administrator (TPA). The TPA that is initiating your claim may try to steer you to a glass shop that uses inferior products for the lowest possible price. We work with all insurance companies and use the highest quality parts available for your vehicle. Just let them know that you want Intermountain Auto Glass to perform this work so they don’t try to steer you to a substandard company

Auto glass replacements are usually covered by the comprehensive portion of your insurance. Most comprehensive insurance has some sort of deductible associated with it that you are responsible for paying. If you are going to use your insurance for your auto glass replacement, we will handle all of the paperwork for you. The following steps are required to use your insurance.

  • Call InterMountain Auto Glass for an appointment
  • Call your agent or the 800 claims line to verify your insurance coverage is in good standing and inform your agent or the TPA that you want Intermountain Auto Glass to replace your windshield.
  • Depending on the insurance company, you may be given a claim number or a reference number. Please call us with this information as it will aid in processing the claim.
  • Upon replacement of your windshield, we will complete all of the necessary paperwork required by your insurance company and process the claim for you.

What kind of windshield will I get?

Intermountain Auto Glass uses only quality OEM products for auto glass replacements. There are many different types of windshields on the market, and in our opinion they are definitely not equal in quality. We purchase most of our windshields from Pilkington and PGW Autoglass, the two largest producers of auto glass in the world. We offer Carlite and Mopar windshields when available along with glass purchased from the dealership when required/requested.  For windshields that are installed with urethane, we only use ESSEX urethanes. Essex urethanes are the factory standard for windshield installations and all of our technicians have been certified by the Essex corporation on the proper use of their urethanes.
